  12. Xanthus Ships v 3.0 of Questor Spreadsheet Application for NEXTSTEP
  13. Includes high level Excel 4.0 file compatibility

  15. Stockholm, June 15, 1994 - Xanthus International AB today announced
  16. that it has begun shipping version 3.0 of Questor, its spreadsheet
  17. application for the NEXTSTEP computing environment.
  18.  
  19. Registered users of Questor 2.0 will automatically receive an
  20. upgrade offer to version 3.0.
  21.  
  22. Questor 3.0 is delivered as 'fat' (MAB) binaries for Motorola,
  23. Intel and PA/RISC processors.

  25. Questor 3.0 will be shown in the Alembic booth at NEXTSTEP Expo and
  26. in the Xanthus Suite at the San Francisco Marriott near Moscone
  27. Center.

  31. Questor 3.0 is the most user-friendly and powerful spreadsheet
  32. application for NEXTSTEP. It combines the intuitive metaphor of
  33. "matrix-based" spreadsheet programs with a number of unique features
  34. and a true NEXTSTEP user interface. Together with the OpenWrite
  35. word processor, Questor is one of the cornerstones in the Open
  36. Office product suite from Xanthus.

  38. The backbone of Questor 3.0 is a conventional matrix-based spreadsheet
  39. that can easily be used by anybody who has once used spreadsheet
  40. programs like Microsoft Excel, Lotus 1-2-3 or Wingz.

  42. To this backbone is added a number of unique features, including
  43. easy-to-use SQL database access, a powerful scripting language,
  44. multi-level undo and a versatile API.

  46. Questor 3.0 is designed to be extremely easy to integrate with SQL
  47. databases and custom-made applications on NEXTSTEP.

  49. Questor 3.0 is the third release of the application. Questor 1.0
  50. was released in May 1993.

  54. - Significantly improved performance regarding worksheet recalculation
  55. and file access, especially for large documents.

  57. - Very high level of Microsoft Excel 4.0 file compatibility. Excel
  58. 4.0 files can actually be imported into Questor, edited, and exported
  59. back to Excel 4.0, without losing any formatting or style information.

  61. - Full support for Excel 4.0 compatible cell styles.

  63. - More than 100 new functions to better support the Excel 4.0
  64. function set in the area of finance, math and statistics.

  66. - Full support for the new Open Object Embedding (OOE) standard
  67. from Xanthus. Worksheets can be created and edited from within
  68. OpenWrite word processor documents.
